    1. Richard Gwin m. Sarah Chesley near Jamestown ca. 1760s
    2. John Gwin
    3. According to their grandson, Richard Gwin and Sarah Chesley married near Jamestown, VA, probably around the 1760s. This grandson, John Gwin, b. Nov. 1792 in TN (prob. Sevier Co.) and m. Jane Walker in Blount Co. 8 April 1812, moved to middle Alabama where both John and Jane lived to a nice old age and are buried. They're my ggg-grandparents. Richard's son and John's dad, Isham Gwin, who married Mary Canterbury in southwest Virginia, owned 249 acres in Sevier Co., TN, at least as early as 1807, then moved to Orange, Harrison, and Crawford counties, IN, in about 1820, and remained in that area for the rest of his life. Many of the Gwins, Dentons, and others of southern Indiana descend from him. Does anyone have any information as to who Richard's parents and siblings were? There's more on these families at http://www.zianet.com/jmcdgwin/genealogyhomepage.htm http://www.zianet.com/jmcdgwin/gwinrichard.htm http://www.zianet.com/jmcdgwin/gwinisham.htm http://www.zianet.com/jmcdgwin/CrowsonsCovePlatMaps.htm and many other pages in the site. 1. New Gwinn Page with "Gwinn Papers"
    2. Michael Gwinn
    3. Hello all, It has been quite some time since I have posted to the list. And the list has not been very active over the past year or so. But here is something new that might excite you. The "Gwinn Papers" are being scanned and put on line by my brother and his wife, Matthew and Deane Gwinn. The "Gwinn Papers" are a collection of letters, notes, receipts and other documents that range in dates from the first half of the nineteenth century, civil war period, and through the post war era. The letters are mostly from Laban Gwinn's brothers, cousins, friends, etc. and are addressed to him and his family. Laban's line is: Robert Gwinn (of Calf Pasture, VA) Samuel Gwinn (of Greenbrier, VA) John Gwinn (of Greenbrier, VA) Laban Gwinn (of Round Bottom, W/VA) They have scanned about 500 images so far and have put them in PDF format. This is only a portion of the collection, there is more to come. The address for the site is www.gwinnfamily.org I hope you find this helpful in your research! Let the list know if you find something of interest to your line! -Mike Gwinn My line->Robert Gwinn, Samuel, John, Laban, George Loomis, Carl, Alfred Nelson, David

It is through the Indiana serv. and is part of the Genweb program that many of the states have. You can go to your internet server and type in the name of the state and Genweb to locate lots of sites. I don't really have any more info. on the Gwyns other than what I sent but will let you know if I see any of your ancestors. 2. Do you have any info. on a Gwyn/Guinn family from NC? My Abraham/Abel Gwyn is in Watauga county NC in 1850 and may have been in Johnson and Carter county Tn. in 1830-40. He stays in Watauga county(later Mitchell co. and then Avery) until 1860 and then only his wife (Nancy) is there with her daughter and son in law in 1870. She is gone after that. Any connecton you have would be appreciated. In the tennessee deeds there are several Gwyns in Sevier and Greene counties. if you need any of that info. I can get it at our library as we live in Greene co. Becky Quoting weldon moore <[email protected]>: > Cheryl, I have Guinns from South Carolina. 3. Davine, I do wish I could be of better help. I am able to place Mary and Morris near Philadelphia from several sources referecing my Mary Gwyn Garrett's life in KY. My Gwyn/Garrett first went to VA. Morris remained there after his sister my gggg grandmother Mary Gwyn Garrett headed to KY. Morris Gwyn as well as my PA Garrett family traveled with the Hamilton family of PA. While in Rockbridge VA Morris acquired much lands, as his estate and inventory were very worthy. I do have a copy of Morris Gwyn's will, a shorter version would be found. Will Records of Fayette County, Kentucky 1794-1818 Fayette County, Kentucky Will Records Book A OSPage: 25 Name: Morris Gwyn My nephew, Morris Garrett; Heirs: Eli, Lewis, Wm., Morris, and Thomas Garrett; and Rebecca and Phebe Garrett Written: January 3, 1798 Probated: April 16, 1803 Exe.: William Hamilton Witnesses: Anne Hamilton, Peggy Hamilton, and James Hamilton My thought is that my Morris Gwyn never married, or if he did, he did not have issue, as proving that his estate went to the Garrett children.
