I have heard bits and pieces for some time and It hasn't moved forward much.I am going to include what I have recently gotten from Beaufort. Maybe you can add to it. I sent a note to the Beaufort History Center as follows: On page 271 article 462 it said that the first Guthries came to America in the early 1700's. There were 4 brothers. Three got off the boat at Beaufort and one at the Oregon Inlet. I contacted the History Center in Beaufort, NC and a helpful lady copied and scanned the folowing info and sent it to me. Note date differences.. THE GUTHRIES 462 The Guthries originally came from Scotland in the latter part of 1700. Four Guthrie brothers came by boat to the United States. One of the brother's was the father of John Wesley Guthrie. John Wesley's father and another brother got off the boat at Morehead City, another brother got off at Wilmington, and one at Oregon Inlet. Some of the Guthries of Bogue Sound, are descendants of John Wesley and Elizabeth Taylor Guthrie vrho were married on November 28, 1851. They lived at Bogue. John had a windmill sent to him from Holland, which he used to grind corn to make corn meal, and had ft mounted at Guthrie's Point, Bogue. Several Years later, Mrs. Stella Howard bought it from John and put ft on Shelly Point, Bogue. Later Mrs. Howard sold ft to Mrs. George Elliott from Boone. She moved the mill to Boone. John Wesley and Elizabeth were the parents of Furman, Thomas, John Wesley II, James Edward and Allice. I. Furman Guthrie, born October 3, 1852, Onslow County, North Carolina, married Laura Davis, born October 1,1855, Harkers Island, on January 5, 1874, Harkers Island. Laura died June 18, 1897. Their children are: Thomas born October 24, 1875; Albert M. born August 23, 1877; Bert A. born March 21,1879; Fumie born Dec. 18, 1881; Sarah J. born November 24,1883; Martha born February 4, 1885; Leona born January 12,1889; William born November 11, 1891; John W. born February 3, 1887; Annie M. born May 7, 1893; Charlie born June 12, 1895. Leona marred John Amy Bums, born August 22, 1879. John died March 3, 1968. Leona died March 8,1978. They have a daughter, Laura Frances, born January 25, 1909, Onstow Go., married Glenn Matthews, born May 8, 1906, Onslow Co., on August 25, 1927. Charlie, married Susie Fulford, born April 13,1896. Susie died February 22,1981. Furman's second marriage was to Nester Irene Bums, born June 5, 1873. Furman died February 27, 1931. Nester died August 26, 1948. Children born to this marriage are: Ralph married Ruby Vell; Paul married Marguerite Keith; Jim married Grace Fulford; Furman; Alice; and Nester. Furman Cornelius, born August 15, 1899, Onslow Go., married Alice Cassie Parker, born October 8, 1902, Onslow Co., on December 18,1922, Jacksonville. Furman died February 17, 1944. Their children are: Agnes Gertrude born August 5,1924, Cortez, Florida. Audrey Louise, born November 27, 1931, Onslow Co., married Douglas Nathaniel Parker, born July 21, 1926, Cedaredge, Colorado, on June 30, 1952, Alexandria, Virginia. Clayton Parker, born October 26, 1935, Onslow Co., married Margaret Holmes, born January 29, 1938, Carteret Co., on September 9,1954, Conway, South Carolina. This marriage ended in divorce. Clayton married Jane Riggs Allen, born April 12, 1937, on August 1, 1959. This marriage ended in divorce. Clayton married Doralyn Jan Smith, born April 29, 1938. Valentine, Nebraska, on January 24, 1973, Onslow Co. Nester Irene, born May 11, 1901, Onslow Co., married Fred Jasper Parker, born December 8, 1888, Onslow Go., on December 27, 1916, Onslow Co. Children born to this marriage are: Anne Ward born December 26, 1917, Onslow Co. She died November 27, 1919. Colon Odell, born June 18, 1919, Onslow Co., married Mildred Lucille Keith, born June 16,1919, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, on December 10,1938, South Bend, Indiana. Gladys Marie, born September 13,1921, Onslow Co., married James Robert Bouchard, born May 27, 1920, on March 30, 1945. Leona Ward, born June 4, 1929, Onslow Co., married Piram Melson Russell, Jr., born June 4,1926, Carteret Go., on June 14, 1949, New Bern. Alice Guthrie born Nov. 5, 1905 married Kendall Reid. He died. Alice married Solomon Rhodes. Alice died February 27, 1967. Solomon died. II. James Edward Guthrie, born January 10, 1857, Carteret Go., married Charlotte Foreman, born 1861, on September 10, 1884. Children from this marriage are: James Leslie, born 1890. He died November 22, 1978. William Raymond, born 1888, Manatee County, Florida married Frances L. Guthrie. William died July 6, 1953. James Edward's second marriage was to Eunice Amelia Thomas, born February 6, 1868, Carteret Co., on August 16, 1894. James died December 17, 1924. Eunice died October 11, 1958. Children from this marriage are: Herman Sidney, born April 14,1896, married Imogene Risley, born February 27, 1894, Columbus, Ohio. Imogene died Feb. 12, 1979. Sidney died July 9,1980. Lee Ulrich, born 1899 married Lucy Kemmer of Alabama. Lee died 1973. Beulah Eunice, born October 8, 1900 married Major Hall. Beulah's second marriage was to Matthew Dixon who died May 3, 1953. Eva, born June 30, 1903, Manatee Go., Florida, married Edward J. McCoy who later died. Audrey Elizabeth, born August 26,1908, Manatee Go., Florida, married Henry S. Jackson. This marriage ended in a divorce. Macye Guthrie deceased. Irvin Yaeger, born December 15, 1911, Manatee Co., Florida, married Ida Mae Newton from Edenburgh, England. III. John Wesley Guthrie II, born November 6, 1868, Carteret Co., married Addle Lee Taylor, born January 16, 1875, Carteret Co., on December 19, 1894. John Wesley died March 6, 1938. Addle Lee died March 29, 1952. Children born in Carteret Co. from this marriage are: Ethel Marone, born October 26, 1895, married Sherwood Thomas Smith, born May 26, 1891, Emul, N.C., on February 21, 1923. Edna Julia, born October 15, 1897, died April 15,1912. John Wesley, III, born January 1,1907, married Blanche Stewart. John Wesley was a Merchant Seaman and died at sea on November 13, 1955. Lura Elizabeth, born March 9, 1909, married Nickleous Calhoun Weeks, born October 15, 1902, on June 29, 1928, Kinston. Cal died January 26, 1976. Horny Saulham, born September 24, 1911, married Essie Meadows, born 1912, Carteret County. Harry died January 7, 1945. Mildred Inez, born October 8, 1913, married Sam E. Smith, born August 17,1907, on August 10, 1935. This marriage ended in divorce. Sam died July 1, 1980. Mildred married Tom Smith, born August 29, 1924, on December 24, 1953. Tom died April 12, 1982. Donald Lee, born July 3, 1915. He died February 27, 1920. IV. AlliceGuthrie, bom December 28,1871, Onslow Co., married K.R. Garner, born November, 1861, Onslow Co. Allice died May 9, 1905. K.R. died June 13, 1937. All their children were born in- Carteret County as follows: Leola, born January 28, 1888, married Neary Taylor. Leona, born July 14,1889, married Nash Pringle. Lizzette, born May 18,1891, married Tobe Lewis. Raymond L., born December 29, 1893, married Pauline Dudley, Washington, N.C. Lessie, born October 1895, married Clyde Garner. Rudolph L., born December 10, 1897, married Ruby Garner. Letha, born November 7, 1899, married Thomas Fulford, Cortez, Florida. Lula, born May 1,1902, married Hester Quinn, born February 12, 1900, on June 16, 1920. All the children are deceased except Leola and Letha. Hester Quinn died September 4, 1974. Lula died October 15,1975. K.R., Jr., born July 5, 1904, died October 1907.
