My oldest known ancestor is Charles. I have often speculated that he was the Charles GUTRY listed in the 1790 census of Surry Co., NC but have absolutely nothing to support this theory. I do know that he was the Charles Guthrey on the early 1800 tax rolls of Halifax Co., VA. Charles left Virginia in the late 1820's and arrived in Kentucky in time to be enumerated on the 1830 census in Trigg Co. KY. His known children were IRBY, VINCENT, PATRICK, JESSE, and ELIZABETH. Patrick apparently never married and died prior to 1950. Jesse and his wife Mary GOODE moved on to Greene Co., IL, Elizabeth and her husband, Manning (Mannen) WARREN, moved to Pettis Co. MO and then on to Lawrence Co., MO. Vincent and Irby remained in KY and their descendants are found in both Trigg and Christian Counties. -- Judy Guthrie Warren
