Better check the date and story as the Revolutionary War wasn't over until 1783 and I don't think anyone was giving out bounty land in 1778. Larry Larry Guthrie yrralguthrie@yahoo.com Well now, Larry, I didn't write that. Thanks, though. you're correct to point out the possible error. I copied it directly from a website listing early Louisville, KY settlers. The website credits the Louisville Courier-Journal.. which is not to say that the L C-L was correctly quoted only that there is a trail for anyone else pursuing this. I don't know that he didn't accept this land in payment or bounty. I'm not about to discount the info just because it doesn't square with what i think I know. There were enlistments ending in 1778 and many regular Army and militia men were released to protect their homes on the western frontiers. But Louisville was in Virginia at this time and this JG had been with the 8th PA Line. Another red flag! We just don't have enough on this guy yet to leave anything out. I just hate to see 18th century buildings razed for office parks. Calvert Guthrie Kansas City
