GUTHRIE, JAMES - (1750-1841) In 1778, at age 28, he accepted 400 acres near Cedar Creek (Fern Creek area) in payment for his Revolutionary War service. According to the book Lore & Legacy, he was shot in the cheek during an Indian attack and lost four of his teeth. His second wife, Eunice Cooper Price, was related to John Paul Jones.
