I've checked a site on two on the internet and there are Guthrie's alive that can trace their ancestry to William Guthrie and Rebecca Noel Guthrie. It is generally believed that William was a descendant of Edward Guthrie of King and Queen and Middlesex Co., VA ca 1700. Lem Guthrie and Larry Guthrie can trace their ancestry to John Guthrie and Elizabeth Baskett of Middlesex Co. VA. This was done using a combination of y-dna tests and paperwork. I believe that Edward was closely related to the John. If so a y-dna test could prove this.
