Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IBh.2ACIB/743.1 Message Board Post: The Stephen Guthrie that married Betsey Sulliven in 1807 and Cassandra Sulliven in 1826 is NOT the father of Abner Guthrie who was born abt 1790 and married Esther Royal in 1818. Setphen could not have been old enough to be anyone's father in 1790. Abner does not appear in any census as head of household until 1820. He passed away before 1850 as his son William Henry Guthrie had his mother Esther age 60 living with him in the 1850 Federal Census of Carteret County, NC Samuel Guthrie and Sarah Williston did have a son Stephen born abt 1796 whis was verified by Samuel's will. This Stephen married Rebecca Wade. To the best of my knowledge Sarah Williston was born at Core Sound are of Carteret County, NC and Samuel Guthrie was born on Shackleford Banks, NC Abner was my ggggrandfathe and I got the information from veryreliable sources.
