    1. Re: Guthrie Arrival in US/North Carolina
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Guthrie Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IBh.2ACIB/1223.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: There were many Guthrie's on the coast of North Carolina in the 1700's and 1800's and it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. Daniel Guthrie was not the only Guthrie in Carteret County in that time period. There was a Samuel Guthrie that was born abt 1735 on the Banks of Carteret County. I have the same information on John Wesley Guthrie that you were sent from the Heritage Book of Carteret County, but I do not have his father's name. He lived in the Bogue Sound area of Carteret County and is buried at the Gales Creek Cemetery, in the village of Gales Creek, Carteret County. There is a Historical Society in Morehead City, (they are the ones that authored the Heritage Book) that you can contact. It is called "The History Place" I have Guthrie's in my line dating back to the mid 1700's that were born in Carteret County on what is called Shackleford Banks.
