You can almost trace him as having a last mention in Virginia in 1712 and a first mention in NC in 1713. As I suggested, it would be my educated guess that he was the progenitor of the Guthries along the NC coast. As you know, there were few people in the state before 1700, of any name, and the 1713 document naming a Guthrie is significant. What I believe to be a son (John) died in Pasquotank Co. in 1750 so there was ample opportunity for Daniel Guthrie or his offspring to populate the area. The article mentioned said that John Wesley Guthrie was married in 1851 and that his father was one of the 4 brothers who had come to NC in the early 1700s, as I recall. The time brackets are so out of line that it makes the 4 brothers theory suspect right off the first read. I was trying to point Morris in a direction I deemed to be right but I certainly could be in error. Maybe your research will support that theory. I do know that a man purportedly coming to the NC coast in the early 1700s didn't have a son getting married in 1851. Happy hunting!
