    3. Re the following post from Betty: Betty Guthrie McCollum >From the Rutherford Co., Tn. Archives. Book 6, Page #193 "...A return of the amount of the estate in the hands of Absalom Lain, Guardian for the minor heirs of TRAVIS GUTHREY, dec.d. as returned to January term 1826..." In most states during this time period a guardian was appointed for all minor heirs when the father died, regardless of whether or not the mother was still alive or not. Since one was appointed in this case, there should be court records for this appointment and also court records for the settlement when these minor came of age. i.e. the names of these minors should be in those court records when they are found.
