I don't think we're related, because according to census records, your Guthrie's came from Ireland and mine came from Scotland, however, your Guthrie family migrated from Ohio to Iowa, and so did mine, so possibly there is some sort of connection. I looked up Ethel in the 1885 Iowa Census and found she was the daughter of George Harper Guthrie, born August, 1861 in Richland Twp, Wapello, County Iowa. George was married to Saura (maiden name not known). He had a sister, Mary Guthrie, born 9/12/1852 in Zanesville, Ohio. George's father was Samuel Guthrie, born 10/12/1826 in Ohio, died 5/21/1895 in Kirkville, Iowa (Wappello County). His wife was Lydia Harper , whom he married on 11/27/1851 in Harrison Twp, Muskingum County Ohio. Lydia was born 12/2/1830, Salt Lake Twp, Muskingum County Ohio (I obtained this information from somebody that had posted a family tree on Ancestry.com. The family tree listed her as Lydia; the census showed Lyda). Samuel Guthrie's father was David Guthrie. On the 1880 Census, Samuel shows his father and mother were both born in Ireland. His mother was Esther Jamison. In addition to Samuel, they had a son, Robert, and daughters, Hannah and Phoebe. Lydia Harper Guthries parents were Sam Houston Harper, born 2/13/1807 in Pennsylvania, and died 6/18/1856 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Sam Harper was married to Pary Polard 5/8/1828 in Muskingum County, Ohio 5/8/1828 and died 6/18/1865 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Mary Polard Harper was born 3/8/1808 oir 1809 in Maryland. She died 6/23/1899 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Sandi
