Thomas Guthrie married Jane Crawford. Does any of this ring a > bell????? > Yep, but more like a warning buzzer. These were the sons of William Guthrie a farmer and land speculator in New Derry. In 1809 another Wm Guthrie settled on the southern edge of Clairon (then Armstrong) County where Leatherwood Creek empties into Redbank Creek. His large family could easily get confused with the earlier Guthries. This Wm Guthrie (aka Capt Guthrie) also came from Westmoreland County as did many of Clarion's earliest settlers. His wife, Elizabeth, had survived a period of Seneca and British captivity--she was taken at the time of the Hannastown raid in 1782. Capt. William was vet of the early Rev War in the east and a ranger in Western Penna. til 1795. His decendents still live along The Redbank and Sandy Lick east as far as Du Bois. Calvert Guthrie Kansas City Any Guthrie's heading for the Kansas City Highland games this weekend?
