Thanks Ben, Simpson Guthrie and his family came to Hardin Co., TN before 1860. Apparently John E. Simpson married Martha J. Alexander ca 1860. They had two kids, William S. born 1861 and David R. Guthrie born 1864. These two boys are the only Guthries living in Hardin County in 1880 and are shown in the household of their step-father, James A. Snodgrass. It would be interesting to learn what happened to this Guthrie family.
