I am working from some family information passed down from my aunt and building a family tree. Guthrie is my father's mother's side of the family. I have holes in the tree that I could use your help. Do any of the following people cross your family lines and if so, can you share some of your info. I am still building the tree and will continue to update my tree records at Ancestry.com. Please send any corrections you may find as well. The earliest reliable trace of Guthrie I have found begins in South Carolina migrating through Georgia to Alabama. They had a slew of kids, married in Alabama for the most part and then a large contingent moved to Texas around 1900 to 1905 where most are buried in Anna, Collins County, Texas. James Edward moved to Alabama by the time he was 20 to marry Sarah Barnett, his first wife. Sarah line is not yet complete as her side is not on my line of ancestry, but I will. I have hit a wall with JE Guthrie and Samantha Teel. Can't find Samantha's family at all and am beginning to wonder if she was orphaned and left behind after the Creek Wars in the 1930s. For some reason, I know there is a good story there, but I just can't find it. It appears as though Snow Guthrie may have married into Lee Guthrie's wife's mother's family as they are both Howells. Haven't found much on the John W. Adams or Nancy Jane Howell, Susie Estella Adams' parents in Alabama. They probably aren't within the same family, but I haven't found many Howells in Alabama.
