For those of you that are not direct Guthrie descendants. Either you married a Guthrie or your mother or grandmother did, getting a y-dna test done now is more urgent than otherwise. As time go on it will be much harder to find a suitable donor. Those uncle's and cousin's are going to die off and there will be no possibiliy of a y-dna test. Remember you and your descendants are not possible donors for a Guthrie y-dna test. You would need to find a cousin or uncle who is a Guthrie descendant and have them take the test. Offer to pay for it. Even if you just have the 12 marker test done now the DNA will be available for future upgrades.
