She married 1) Milard Guthrie and 2) G. H. Buchanan. She had three children that I know of, 2 who lived to adulthood: Opal Guthrie, born about 1909, and Frances Katherine Guthrie, born about 1915. I believe a child named Carmen Guthrie, died before 1910. I have letters written from Marion's address in Dallas, Texas during the 1930s and 1940s, in which she discusses the family. Thanks for any help!

I have just begun to dabble in researching my family. I am from Erie, PA and a lot of my family came from down in the Williamsport, PA area. I found a cousin in the state of Washington that was kind enough to send me a wealth of information. I am still digesting it. I do know....from her information....that I am descended from a James Guthrie that originated from Ireland. It probably is a different James Guthrie since this one was born in 1801. Keep in touch. We are probably tied together back there somewhere

She was Josephine Elizabeth Guthrie Edmundson, called Josie. She is the daughter of Michael J. Guthrie and Mary E. Reynolds. Both were from County Clare. She is the granddaughter of Patrick Guthrie and Bridget Cuisich. I have very little on Patrick and Bridget. In fact, I only list Michael and John as children although I know there were more. It appears that you have more than I do. Where do you fit in? I have a picture of what I believe is the Michael Guthrie family/descendents. It is a large group picture taken outdoors which was probably for one of his last birthdays (just a guess). I would love to correspond and I have a MyFamily.com website with some Guthrie information and pictures, if you are interested. I can be contacted directly at cindi@eskimo.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

James Joseph was 11 years old and he was the youngest child in the family. Older siblings, who apparently were already in the U.S. included John, Henry, Patrick, Michael, Thomas and Mary. Siblings named William and Patrick (#1) died as infants in Ireland. Some of the family stayed in the vicinity of Byron and Oregon, Illinois before joining the others in Iowa. They were primarily in Polk County. Do you have a connection with this Guthrie family? Hope so. Best wishes. NIBaker

However, I do know that his son John Guthrie Jr was a volunteer in the Ohio Militia in the war of 1812, and later lived in Fountain County, IN and appeared on the 1840 Census there. I have lost him after that. I agree, this John Jr does not match with your records. Thanks again.

The pension application for this John states that he was born in Cumberland Co. in 1760 and lived there entirely until 10 years after the end of the war when he relocated to Halifax Co., VA. He remained there until his death in the 1832-1839 period. He had a son, John Guthrey, Jr., who shows up in subsequent censuses but the application names no parents, spouses, or offspring. It appears this man was never in Maryland.
