SC and James' first wife Sarah Burnett. Sarah died in 1859 and James remarried to Samantha Teel who would have raised Columbus. I descend from James Guthrie's brother Thomas. James and Thomas were sons of Benjamin Franklin Guthrie who I have tracked from SC in 1820, Troup Co. GA in 1830 and on a tax list in Chambers Co. AL in 1842. James and Thomas later show up in Tallapoosa Co. AL where they both lived and died. I have that your Christopher Columbus was born 15 Mar 1858 in Dadeville, Tallapoosa Co. AL and died 23 Aug 1955 in Comanche Co. TX. He married 1) Missie Carroll 21 Dec 1876 in Tallapoosa Co. and 2) Emma Golden abt 1890. (Those dates for Columbus are from a James Guthrie descendant) Here is Christopher Columbus in his parent's home in 1860 and 1870: 1860 Tallapoosa Co. Guthrie and Sarah Jane (Johnson). His grandfather was Robert Guttery and garndmother was Sarah Ann (Williams). Robert and Sarah had numerous children. Your Columbus Guthrie may be one of their grandchildren. Those families seemed to name their children after relatives a lot. Newton , Sarah and children ended up in Texas. A lot of Alabama Guthrie's (Guttery, another spelling of the name) appear to have moved to Texas east of San Antonio around 1880.

I do not know who Ralph Guthrie's parents or siblings were. He was born in 1861, married Juliett Pancake in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is buried, along with his wife Juliett in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a stockbroker according to the directories of Salt Lake City and was for a time the Postmaster for SLC. He and Juliett had one son Boyd. When he died and was buried with his parents, the mortuary had his wife listed as Anora. I am trying to find out her maiden name in the hope of finding someone with a photograph of Juliett and Ralph Guthrie. Thanks for the reply. If anything rings a bell, I would love to hear from you.
