John and Elizabeth Baskett Guthrie m. 1686 Middlesex Co., VA historically had only one son that lived to maturity and had a family. His name was also John and he married three times. His last marriage was to Mary Shay. One of their son's was Henry. Thanks to DNA the supposed connection of Henry and Penelope Johnson Guthrie to the earlier Henry is now proven. There are several families that believe their earliest proven ancestor is a descendant of Henry and Penelope. A y-dna test could tell you for sure. Any person who is a descendant of Henry and Penelope will have a y-dna match to Larry or Lem Guthrie. Larry lguthrie@brightok.net
Does anyone on this list live near Kendall Crossroads, Chambers Co. AL? There are some small cemeteries near there (within 5-10 miles) which might be the burial site of my ancestor Benjamin Guthrie whom I believe died between 1842 and 1850. Thanks, Pat Gilbert
