    1. y-dna test
    2. Larry Guthrie
    3. Group, One of the main reasons I'm pushing for the y-dna test is the ease with which a line or a sub-branch can die out. One of the important branches of my Guthrie line has only one male descendant left that can be identified. That line had been "proven" using a paper trail. Recently the last male descendant had a y-dna test done. Guess what? He is not a descendant of our supposed common ancestor! That means either the paper work is wrong, or there was a false paternity or unannounced adoption somewhere along the line. Unfortunetly there is no other male of that line to be tested, so we'll probably never know which it is. If the y-dna test would have come along 10 years ago, there would have been several possible donors. It's never going to be easier to find a suitable donor, and may become impossible over time. Again without being too overbearing, I strongly urge each of you to find a living Guthrie male and get them to agree to donate y-dna for the test. Even if you have to pay yourself. For archival purposes the 12 marker test will do. About $100.00. Larry Larry Guthrie yrralguthrie@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 1. Guthrie descendants
    2. Larry Guthrie
    3. I've checked a site on two on the internet and there are Guthrie's alive that can trace their ancestry to William Guthrie and Rebecca Noel Guthrie. It is generally believed that William was a descendant of Edward Guthrie of King and Queen and Middlesex Co., VA ca 1700. Lem Guthrie and Larry Guthrie can trace their ancestry to John Guthrie and Elizabeth Baskett of Middlesex Co. VA. This was done using a combination of y-dna tests and paperwork. I believe that Edward was closely related to the John. If so a y-dna test could prove this. If any of the descendants of William and Noel are subscribed to this site would you please email me? yrralguthrie@yahoo.com Larry Larry Guthrie yrralguthrie@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Guthrie, born in October 1873 in Arkansas, and married Cora Etter. Like an actual name. :) A general timeline: RT born in Arkansas in 1868; Cora Etter born in 1876 in Tennessee. The two were married in approximately 1894, and their second daughter was born in Texas in 1896. The two living in Union, Oklahoma in 1900. Their fifth child, Jewel, was born in Guthrie, OK, in 1904. The family was living in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1910. RT Guthrie presumably died in the following decade, and the family was living in Fort Smith, Arkansas, when the 1920 census came around. Someone posted a few years ago also looking for information, said he had linked him to parents S.L. Guthrie and 'N.A'. According to RT in the 1910 census, his parents were from Kentucky and Missouri, respectively. Thanks in advance for whatever help anyone can provide filling in the blanks!
