Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IBh.2ACIB/773.785.787.1 Message Board Post: Hello Anthony -- I am very interested in the surname Jubb. My grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Smith, was born in Sheffield, England, in 1877. Her mother was Annie Jubb married to William Henry Smith, Sr. I do not know any further back on either Annie or William Henry, but I do have a birth record of my grandmother's sister, Alice Smith, in which William Henry was described as a "bone scale cutter." The Smiths, it appears to me, could be very difficult to locate, but perhaps Jubb would be somewhat easier. (I hope!) If you or anyone else who happens to read this could shed any light on this family, I would be really excited about it. I have been looking for information for about 18 years and have not gotten anywhere. My address is: John Post, 17615 N. 61st Drive, Glendale, AZ 85308, USA. E-mail: cousinjohn2@cs.com

    3. Thought you might enjoy this... >From Peterhead to Peterborough, Pendle to Penzance, My merry band of ancestors has led me quite a dance. There's no-one rich and famous, no, not even well to-do, Though a second cousin twice removed once played in goal for Crewe. My bride of just three minutes I left standing in the church, As I nipped into the graveyard for a spot of quick research, Eventually I found an uncle 60 years deceased, It was far more satisfying than a silly wedding feast. But now my thirty year obsession is lying in the bin, Last Tuesday week I heard the news that made me chuck it in, For my darling mother who is not long on this earth, Casually informed me they'd adopted me from birth.

If these are not the same men due to your factfinding, then like you I believe they are related in some way. Census records indicate that Dempsey Guthrie's father Stephen was born in NC, all the names are similar - Levi, Beverly, Dempsey, Stephen...to indicate that there is a close relationship between the two Guthrie families in Carteret County, NC and Madison County KY. I go to the Clayton Genealogy Library about 2x a month and will concentrate on this family. Will let you know what I find.

I have no doubt that it connects to the Carteret County Guthries, but am still trying to make the connection. The LEVI in your line can not be the same LEVI that is listed in Carteret Co., since he was still listed here in 1810. Your records show your LEVI as being in KY earlier that that. He may be an uncle or cousin. Perhaps together we will find the connection. Ellen
