My Grandmothers name was Annie Virginia Hamlett. they were married Dec 25, 1910. I don't know where. Maybe Charlotte County, Va. He was working in Norfolk, Va. at the shipyard as a welder the last I ever saw him. Been trying for years to find him. He sometimes was called "Johnny" .

They had children Andrew b.1846, Archibald b.1848, John b.1850, Robert b.1853, Sarah b.1856, Margaret b.1862 and James b.1865. Archibald moved to Selkirk in the Scottish Borders where he and his son James (mother May Buglass from Coldingham) continued the family business of shoemaking (known locally as a "Souter"). I've found Guthrie's in Coldingham whom I believe are connected, but so far I've found nothing else to support this. If any of the above sounds familiar then I'd love to hear from you. His estate was granted to Mary A. Guthrie of Summerville on Aug. 8, 1917. Edward was married before to Emeline Carrier and to a Phebe ? I was told that Mary A. Vandervort had a sister Dessa and that the family migrated from the West - Calif. There is a cemetary in Summerville named Vandervort. Melvin's father was Wesley F. I am looking for any information regarding Amanda/Miranda Guthrie of Georgia. She was born Oct. 16, 1823. Her father was John L. Guthrie born in 1797 in South Carolina. Her mother was Elizabeth Sweat born in 1795 in Georgia. Amanda/Miranda was married to Hezekiah Vickery in Berrien County and had several children with him.
