I too descend from Dempsie Guthrie who was married to Ann Ellis. My GG-grandmother was their daughter, Eliza Guthrie who married Charley McKinley in Clinton County, Ky. My cousin did a DAR supplemental proving back to Levi Guthrie and the DAR is pretty strict about verifying it's information. Here are some of the resources used: "The State Records of North Carolina (Published under the Supervison of the Trustees of the Public Libraries, By Order of the General Assembly) Collected and Edited by Walter Clark, Vol. XV, 1780-81, pages 619-620" "Notarized bible from Rosa Guthrie Hancock naming Abijah as g-father, Stephen as gg-father, Levi as ggg-father" 1860 Census, Clinton County, KY, Demsie Gutherie naming son Abijah 1850 Census, Clinton County, KY, Abihjah Guthrie naming son Stephen 1810 Census, Adair County, KY, Steph Guthrie with 2 males 0-10 yrs; (1860 Census, Clinton County KY shows Abijah and Dempsie as 54--the correct ages if they were 0-10 in 1810) Levi immediately above Levi in Carteret Co. NC with two males under 16 in 1800 Census (Stephen and Beverly--son of Levi who married Patience Grider, daughter of Martin Grider--19 Dec 1803. Stephen married Betsy Grider 5 Jan 1804, previously proved. Adair Co. Will Rec 1804-1818, Book B p.11 Ky GRC Adair Co, Marriage Bonds, 1802-1826, p. 17 I do have a copy of DAR form submitted and it lists the other DAR #s of people who have also proved back to Levi Guthrie. I have no info beyond Levi (he was from NC coast) but married in Goochland, VA. Is it probable that this Elijah is his brother and his wife sister to Elizabeth? Many Guthrie researchers say that the Kentucky Levi Guthrie was not the same Guthrie from NC, but I do not agree. My cousin did a DAR supplemental that provided the information to prove that Levi was the Levi Guthrie from NC who migrated to Kentucky. Any other information would be appreciated.

Edward was 18 when he moved from his home to Flint Hill in Cumberland. He married Louisa Cook Garnett and raised a family there. Interesing I have been to the home site and the cemetary there, his tombstone isn't there but Louisa and some of his children's stones are there. What other information are you looking for?     3. Hi List, I am looking for the family MARGARET BRUMLEY GUTHRIE. She was married to a BEN GUTHRIE. I know of two children. CARMEN AND LESTER GUTHRIE. CARMEN was born on Feb. 24, 1913 and married a W.G. LINGO. In 1947 Carmen and W.G. Lingo lived in Ashville, North Carolina. LESTER GUTHRIE was the other child. I do not know when he was born or who he married. I think they were raised in Florida. I know he was in Sanford, Florida in 1947. I have some photos I would like to share.
