My Guthrie family came from Scotland via Canada to Mercer County, IL. While researching there I found there were other Guthries in Mercer County that came there from the south - AL or MS in the later part of the nineteenth century, so you might check there.

She had lived in Mclean Co. at least since 1850, so they might have been married close by. There was a least one child, Mina Gertrude, born in Hudson in 1863. In the 1870 census Eliza and Mina lived with the Robert Dement family, with no sign of Jacob and in one census Eliza was marked as divorced. I got Jacob's name from Mina's obiturary and know nothing at all about him. Can anyone help?
