This note was written by Lydia Edwards, who goes on to say that Joseph was her grandfather. So John was her uncle. John's siblings included: Aaron Edwards, Elise, Florence, Josuha and Mary (and one or two I can't decipher.) Josuha was Lydia's father. This is the only reference to John that is in our Bible. But, no, I have no Taylor listed in my family Bible. The Florence Gulick you originally asked about was born Sept. 1886 in Brooklyn and had a child named Florence, born in 1908. This Florence Dorothy married a Schaible and I think lived in the Baltimore area until the last quarter of the 20th century. The earliest Gulick in our Bible is Edward Redfield Gulick, born in 1818. My lineage also is related to Joshua Edwards who was an Elder in the Trinity church in Brooklyn. I think he was born in 1815. Family history is that the Edwards are still trying to claim part of New York Ciy for an heir's ownership of property in the 1700s. If you think this information is helpful to any other Gulick's, please pass it along. Sorry I couldn't help with the DAR registry. Thanks for your reply. Larry Gulick

Taylor was the son of John Gulick and Miriam Taylor. John and Miriam were born in the early 1780's in VA. and moved around 1820 to Ohio with their children--and John's father, Ferdinand. Ferdinand was a Revolutionary War Patriot and I need only one proof of lineage for a DAR application on him which would be proof that Taylor was John's son. The books written on the Gulick's failed to site their specific references, so the DAR will not accept them for proof of lineage. A Bible record would be just what I need. My e-mail is beth@chem.csustan.edu Look forward to hearing from you. Beth

My father, Edward Redfield Gulick, born 1908, Ohio, had an aunt Florence living out East, I think in New Jersey. The only problem with some of these books is that the author's have not cited where they have found the information/proofs. I will look for Huntley's book. It is interesting that Miriam (Taylor) Gulick's (married John Gulick in about 1804 in VA.) first husband was a Huntley.
