This might not be a match..the times are off -and there are so many Gross'es in the world! .However: Mary and Charles are names from my Frederic(k) Gross line- So here goes: Re: GROSS/Groß GG grandfather Frederic(K) GROSS was born in "Esteller" Germany c 1840. He ended up in Cincinnati Ohio at 533 John Street rear, where he remained for over 50 years (according to the Williams Street Directory). He had a brother known to 'the Aunts' as "Old Uncle Jake" -Jacob?) who was probably a Civil War vet. He married an 'Aunt Jemima', who was from Indiana. Apparently they lived in Indiana for a time. She, received a "President's grant Pension" (Could that be 'President Grant's pension'? ) GG grandfather was FREDERIC(K) GROSS, a Cabinet Maker/ Carpenter His eldest child was born in 1858. He married twice, but I do not know the names of either spouse. The children of the first marriage were: -George John Gross b 12 July 1858, in Cincinnati Ohio. d 18 Apr 1941 Cincinnati OH bur Vine St. Cemetery (many of the family buried there) William's Cin. Directory: 1874 lived at 533 John Street, rear with Frederick Gross & Charles Gross, 1881 lived at rear 533 John street with Frederick Gross & Charles Gross 1887 lived at 137 Loth with Lena Mayer, John Mayer. He married Katherine Mayer) other addresses. •ae 83 at death-•Was an engraver/lithographer-woodcarver •The aunts told me that this Grandfather, loved Opera (German) and that he played the guitar and mandolin George John's Children were : Frederick George, 23 Feb 1884 Cincinnati-d  1 Oct 1950 Graduate of OMI (engineering degree) married 1) Ida Mary Gäenge 5 kids 2) Martha ?-bur Arlinton Cemetery in Cincinnati., Arthur A. a paper cutter in a box factory-served in WWI) wife- Emma, Viola Sarah b  6 Dec 1888/1889 d 21 Feb 1957 -telephone operator/unmarried. Albert b  5 Jun 1890 was a "pressman", Edna Edythe (Perry) was a lawyer/commercial artist and was in the Navy during the war! Husband also a lawyer. Lived in Chicago and Florida), William C. a Presbyterian minister graduated from Lane Seminary in 1920 married aunt May Attig) also a Chaplain in the Army., Walter (my favorite!) Was a plumber by trade, but lived in a houseboat on the Ohio River, and ran a Marina called "Neptune's Harbor) wacky sense of humor) married Aunt Gladdie (Gladys) who was an official midget, and a really sweet person - only child died at birth. They kept chickens-he gave me a Banty Rooster as a pet, Selma Magd! alene (Falta) 4 kids- kind, soft spoken person, Clarence (Uncle Bud) RR engineer. married. -Mary Elizabeth (Wicke), b 24 Dec 1863 in Cincinnati d Salem Mass June 1944 married George Wicke. 2 children; Edwin Winslow Wicke and Edith Wicke. -Charles Gross (a locksmith), -Sarah Gross (My great Aunt Viola Gross was named after her-middle name) The family of the 2nd wife: -Jacob Gross (known as "Young Uncle Jake" & married to aunt Nettie. He died in Goshen OH at age 83 in a tractor accident), left a small bequest to his nephews as he had no living children. -Albert Gross, no information -Julia Gross, may have been a seamstress..no information Does ANYTHING sound familiar?
