They started out in North Carolina, then migrated through Tennessee, up through Kentucky to the Birdseye, Indiana, area. Decades later Quillen settled in Edmonson County, Kentucky, which is across the Ohio River and due south of Birdseye. Andrew Jackson (Jack) Gross served in the Union Army during the Civil War and died in Birdseye. I don't know whether any sonor sons of Jack dropped off in Kentucky on the migration to Indiana.
