He married Mary Ann Foust in 1808 Pittsyvania Co., VA. William was one of three brothers, the others were Richard Gross Jr. and Edmund Gross, who moved to Harlan Co., KY. There were also sisters, Emily, Mickey and possibly Elizabeth. Their parents were Richard and Elizabeth Gross of Pittsylvania Co., VA.
