"Katy" (Young) Gross MANSFIELD: Catherine F. "Katy" (Young) Gross, 97, of Mansfield, Ohio (Richland County) passed away on Sunday morning, June 8, 2014 at Winchester Terrace. Catherine was a life long resident of Mansfield, Ohio (Richland County) and was able to remain in her home on Barnard Avenue until just a few months ago. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1934. She loved spending time with her family and friends, reading, playing cards, vacationing at Lakeside, Ohio. She was an avid Buckeye fan and never missed watching a football game. Catherine was a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church and was a member of ECW and also served as the treasurer. Before her marriage of 31 years to William W. Gross, she worked at Ohio Brass in the office for 6 years, was a devoted housewife and mother for many years and then returned to work at Crall's on Taylor Road for approximately 20 years. She ran the post office and loved her job. Surviving are her two children, David W. Gross (Carolyn) and Pamela K. Armstrong (Larry) of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Jeff Gross, Jay Gross, Kara Adams (Jesse), Vicki Bartman (Jerry) all of Mansfield, Kim Nesser (Sean), Kevin Gross (Nicki Scott, fiancee) of Columbus, Ohio Marcy Armstrong of Lexington, Kentucky, Mark Armstrong (JoAnn) of Galion, Ohio and last but not least her grand dog, Toby; seven great grandchildren, a nephew, Jon Young (Kris) of Mansfield; and a niece, Beth Powell of Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Gross; her mother and father, Vera I. (Cronenwett) Young and Jay M. Young; and two brothers, Charles G. Young and Richard F. Young. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Grace Episcopal Church conducted by Rev. Joe Ashby and Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call starting at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Per Mom's request, we are asking everyone to wear bright colors to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to Grace Episcopal Church Food Pantry, Area Agency on Aging or MedCentral Hospice. The family would like to thank both Winchester Terrace and MedCentral Hospice for all the hours of loving care that Mom received. A special thanks to Rev.
