He emigrated to the US around 1852 and I've found a passenger manifest with his name entering the US in 1852. I am specifically trying to find out what town he came from in Germany and who his parents were and if he had any brothers or sisters. We know most of his history in America. He worked in Louisville, KY at an iron furnace named Nelson Furnace. He married Barbara Hubscher of Switzerland and they moved to southern Illinois in 1858. He moved to obtain work at the Illinois Iron Furnace but ended up farming instead. He was drafted in the Civil War in 1862, fought in at least 4 battles and was captured around Natchez, MS and died at Andersonville Prison in 1864. Any information about his German history would be much appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
