The Handbook of Texas, 1952 edition, by the TX State Historical Assn. has this item: Grossville, Texas, in Mason Co., was established in 1859 and originally called High Point. The community was later named Simonsville for Peter Simon. Still later Simonsville was extended to the ranch of Louis Gross, and the settlement became known as Grossville. In 1947 a school and a community hall were located in Grossville, which has its greatest activity during deer hunting season. Emma Gene Gentry EmmaGene@GentrySoft.com
