Jacob died in 1728 and Anthony Asher was estate administrator. Jacob had a son Isaac, born in 1712. In Pittsylvania Co., Va. in 1786 an Isaac Gross, who resides in that county, hired two attorneys to claim any property that may be due him from Anthony Asher in Baltimore Co., Md. May 5 1958 Services Set for Fred Gross Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Strode funeral home for Fred H. Gross, 54, 1405 W. 9th Ave, who died today at Veterans hospital, Oklahoma City. The Rev. S. Thomas Tipton, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist church, will officiate with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Masonic services at the grave by the Frontier Masonic Lodge No. 48. Born in St. Louis, Mo, on March 10, 1904, he came to Oklahoma with his parents, settling at Guthrie. Following his marriage to Elvyra Black in Richmond, Mo,. they lived at Chushing, but for the past eight years had lived in Stillwater. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a mason by trade and a member of the Bricklayers Union and of Frontier Masonic Lodge No. 487 and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Baptist church. Surviving are his widow, a son, Fred Gross, 221 Doty St.; a daughter, Mrs. Arlin (Erma Lee) Young, Wichita Falls, Tex., four grandchildren and four sisters. She married George M. Dopp, of Western, Oneida County, NY around 1810. In 1820, they were living in Western. I believe George's father John DOPP may have been living in Montgomery County in 1810. They are buried in the Westernville Cemetery in Western, Oneida County. There is a Lawrence GROSS in Canajoharrie, Montgomery County, with 2 female household members of the right general age in the 1810 census. He is probably the Lawrence GROSS born 10 Feb 1742, who died 10 Aug 1811, however I've only found a reference to one son, Henrich, born 27 Oct 1784. His wife's name was Maria FAILING. There is a family tree for them on the LDS site. I'd be very interested in any information that might lead me to the parents of my ancestor Margaret. -steve
