I looked at my message and noticed that I didn't add my grandfather's name, it was Ernest. If 'you' see that name and grandma's name, Martha, would you let 'me' know. 1. [GROSS-L] Posted my Gross gedcom
    2. Gina Gross
    3. If anyone is interested I have posted my Gross family gedcom on World Connect. This is the one where I have had difficulties with proper names vs. given and baptismal names. There are several individuals who have this same family on World Connect and while they list census images as their sources, I have family (albeit old and possibly incorrect) info. Some dates and names do not jibe. I believe the names are easily understood since so many people did not casually go by their first or more formal given names. I was not immediately comfortable with my notes and explanations as well as personal sources being put on the web as these are living individuals so I did take them off. But those changes have not taken place yet. The file is called Descendants of Martin Gross. Here is the link - http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&db=gbean1326&recno=0 I don't know if it works or not - this is my first time doing this. If I made any serious faux pas or you think you are related I would love to hear from you. Gina Gross

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IWg.2ACIB/1099.1 Message Board Post: Read your post and wondered if you had any information on a Dwight Cassett Gross born in Southwick, Mass in 1825. His son Andrew Jonah (or Joner) Gross was born 1869 in Rosendale, Fon du lac County, Wisconsin. Andrew was my wifes grandfather. He married Josephine Berrier in Humboldt County Iowa in 1890. Story has it that Dwight Cassett Gross was for a time the territorial governor of the Dakotas. He was employed in his father's whip factory and was married to Celestia Herrick, she was a seamstress in her early years. Sometime after 1854 the family moved westward. For a time they lived in LeRoy, Dodge County, Wisconsin where one of their children Isabelle was born. In 1861 they traveled to the Dakota Territory, setting doen at Bonn Homme where they kept a Hostelry and Dwight was appointed Territorial Governor by President Lincoln. In 1855 they moved south to Pacific City and in 1866 they left the Dakota Territory and ended up in Iowa.
