Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IWg.2ACIB/1111 Message Board Post: I am searching for the biological parents of my father in law, Johnny A (Gross) Wise. My father in law was adopted by John H. Wise and Nina Ellington and lived in Montgomery, Alabama. It has been said that Nina Ellington and John Wise were related somehow (aunt and uncle) to my father in law, but this has not been confirmed. He does not remember his biological mothers name. He believes it may be Mary June Gatlin. If anyone has any information to fill the gap, it would be most appreciated.

Russia with three of their children abt. 1876-78. (Lydia 1868, Gottried 1870 + Mary Eva Reinartz, Nathaniel T. 1874) Settled in the Scotland / Parkston area of SD. American born Children: Sophia Grosz 1879, Marie 1881, Emanual 1883, Emil 1890 and John Solomon 1896. I would like to know how the other Grosz's of the Dakota's fit into our family? Did Daniel have sibilings that came with him? My research seem to show that the German Grosz's with "sz" came from southern russia and the Gross name with "ss" came from Prussia or northern Germany.

He was born in Michigan and was an inventor with five U.S. patents to his credit. I know he lived at least into the mid 1970s because of the patent records. His last known place of residence was Lebenon, Ohio. The name Gross was spelled Grosse originally but coincidently he and my father both removed the (e) from our name. Can you offer some insight? Thank you Christopher Gross

My G Grandfather, JACOB "Job" GROSS)..(Jacob could also be a middle name, married a "LIDA" (probably an aka) DEMPSEY. The Dempseys are connected to the HATFIELDS. I have never been able to find my "Lida" connection to even the DEMPSEY's. My grandfather was born in KANSAS, from a huge family...16 or 17 children. Family, or part of it, may have ended up in Missouri, but I have not found anything on that either. My branch of ancestry moved to the Texas Panhandle, and I know they were there in 1937, when my mother married LESTER ALVAH GROSS. I think I am dealing with a wrong given name (Jacob), possibly, in searching. The family supposedly German. Do you happen to have any information that could possibly help? What other surnames do you have in your data base? Any help appreciated. Regards..Joyce (Gross)Rogers

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IWg.2ACIB/1084.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Dear Reva: This is some of the information I have on the Leutzinger/Leuzinger/Leitzinger/Lusinger line which comes to me from my aunt and, most recently a distant cousin who has generously passed along information which traces 1,429 male ancestors! (That particular document comes from Antero and Jorma Leitzinger, Helsinki, 1999). This is some of the lineage as reported to me... Rev. Henry (Heinrich) Leutzinger b.2 APR 1831 p. Nettstal, Canton Glarus, Switzerland m. 15 SEP 1868 p. Waterloo, Ontario d. 8 JUL 1913 p.Butterfield Twp., Missaukee County, MI (buried in Moddersville Cemetary) Henry married: Caroline ("Carrie"?) Grosz Leutzinger (my great, great, great grandmother) b. 12 AUG 1847 p. born at sea d. 30 Aug 1932 Together they had 15 children, the fourth oldest being my great, great grandmother. Her name was: Catherine (Kathrina) Leutzinger b. 8 OCT 1874 p. Hessville, OH m. 24 NOV 1892 p. Missaukee County, MI d. 15 DEC 1962 Catherine married John Case Briggs, they had a son Ephraim Beeman Briggs, and he is the father of Mary Ruth Briggs, my maternal grandmother. Caroline Grosz's parents were Adam Grosz and Kathrina Schuester/Shuster. I am in the process of finding more information on them. Henry (Heinrich) Leutzinger was the son of Johann Jakob Leutzinger and Anna Maria Weber. He emigratied to America around 1854 and then went on to Canada around 1867. Johann, his father, was a cobbler in Nettstal, Glarus, Switzerland. As I mentioned, I have access to information tracing the male Leutzinger line back quite a way, if you're interested in more on that line. Hope this helps! Tammy

    2. Susan J Gall
    3. Eugene - I have tried three email addresses - the one below from your website, one I found for you on People Search at your address in Plano, TX , and one on genforum and none have worked - I am making one last attempt to reach you here on the Gross-L mailing list in hope that you subscribe to this and will find it, so I can find you! Eugene, I ran across your website page on Family Treemaker and have been meaning to write to you. I am a descendant of Simon Gross b. 1711 who was the grandfather of your Simon who married Dorcus Becknell. I have quite a bit of information on the family including the portion of the family that went to Breathitt Co., KY - descendants for the most part of Theobald and Barbara Eddleman Groce, Simon Sr.'s son and also my ancestor as well. My line goes through Theobald's daughter Anna Margaretha "Peggy" Groce who married John Shore and remained in Surry/Yadkin Co. NC where Simon Sr., Theobald and his siblings lived for some time before parts of the family went to KY & TN. I also wanted to let you know about the 250th anniversary celebration this summer (August 17 & 18) of the Lutheran Church in Lancaster Co., PA that Simon Sr. was one of the 5 founding father's of. After Simon and his brother (also named Theobald) came to America in 1741 aboard the ship "Europa" which landed in Philadelphia Simon lived in Lancaster Co. (Rapho Twp.) where he owned land and raised a family for some 25 years before heading south to NC. While there he founded the White Oak Lutheran (now called St. Paul's Lutheran) church in what is now Penryn, PA. I have information on this celebration (which is turning into sort of a Gross family reunion of Simon's descendants since several of us are going up there for it) which I can also send you. I would love to share information with you and hope to hear from you soon. Susan Gall Winston-Salem, NC
