    1. Grob in Solothorn
    2. Susan
    3. This is my first posting on the Grob list. My great great grandfather was Joseph Grob of Solothorn, Switzerland. According to his entry on the ship list he was Joseph Grob and he came on the "Energie" on 3 August 1865 . He was married to Elizabeth Marti (y) of Pfaffnau. Joseph was born in 1842 and I only can say he was born in Solothorn because of this entry on the ships list. That could be where he left from. But in later records he does say he was Swiss. I have not been able to find any birth records etc regarding Joseph. When he and Elizabeth came, they were in MI for a short time and then went to Freeport, IL. I have many records on them and children and descendants after that. I am just wondering if anyone on the list has come across Joseph, his place of birth etc? I am happy to share more to anyone interested. Thanks!

    1. Maria Catharina (Beyritsch) Grob/or Grub from Thaleischweiler
    2. Anne Kane
    3. Maria and seven of her nine children arrived at Philadelphia, PA on 9 Sept 1765 on the ship Chance. Also her brother Peter Beyritsch and her son-in-law Nicolaus Ludi. Does anyone know where they settled or have any information about their descendants? They seem to have vanished after they got here.

My father is John Milton Grob of Maine and had family in Red bank NJ. He has a brother Albert who lived and worked with him in the 1960's in North Miami , Fl. There were several boys and 1 girl in his family. Their mother's name is Pauline ,father's name George. I'd have to look up her last name, as it doesn't come to me at the moment. It seems as though it was Koenke. I have done very limited research on the family name. I would like to know the family 's root, and I think their father came from Germany.

Statistics say that the Appenzell People have been more little than the rest of swiss people for hundreds of years. The Nafs (as I am) are very often citizens of Ebnat-Kappel, St. Gallen (www.ebnat-kappel.ch). Salomea is a very untypical name. Anna Katherina was a very popular name in the old times. My Grandmother was born Anna Katharina Grob 16 Apr 1864 in Rehetobel to Johann Konrad Grob and Anna Elizabeth Kast. Salomea Naf was her grandmother. A friend went to Switzerland in the 1960's and brought back some family history and pictures. I as so interested in my grandmothers family. She was a tiny woman about 4 foot 8 inches tall and I am barely 5 foot. Everyone use to tell me I reminded them of Grandmother Lena as we called her. She died before I was born and I feel I missed out on a wonderful person in my life. If you have any ideas of how I can find out more information please let me know. Thank you Joan Eweg.
