Is there anyone who can help me with information on the family of my g,g,g grandfather. His name was Solomon Newton Griffith, Sr. and I believe he was born about 1824 perhaps in Haywood County, North Carolina. He married Nancy Malinda Truett, the daughter of Jeremiah Truett and his wife Mary Kyle, in about 1842-43. They had two children, Ellen S. born 1844 and James born 1846. They moved to Cherokee County, NC where he died in November 1847 at only 28 years old, and was buried on the farm of John Whitaker. On 28 Feb. 1848, his third child was born, Solomon Newton Griffith, Jr. (my ancestor). I believe that Solomon Newton Griffith, Sr. may have had a brother John who was married to a Mary --?-- and had two children, James born 1841 and Ellen born 1845, I make this guess because their children were given the same names. I believe that it may be possible that Solomon Newton Griffith, Sr. is the son of a John Griffin who was born in NC about 1775 and married a Cynthia Calvert in 1797, she was born in Virginia in about 1776 and died in NC in 1852.
