Jeannette, the one thing we ALL have in common, is a William Griffith! I, like most of us, have also found Griffith spelled as Griffits/Griffin/Griffist/Griffydd/Gryffydd (in theWelch langage--dd is pronounced like 'th'). It was spelled that way after they came over as well! William seems to be very a common name. I have the Griffith line (with many Williams, of course) that comes from Md (1600's) to Va/(1780-1830's) and northwestward. There are several Griffith books out there, by various authors, that may be of help. Try searching www.bookfinder.com and see what might be available. If you get back to my area and in the early 1800's I'll be happy to see what I may have. ( I pick up that line in a marriage in 1795, but do have more data.) We all have brick walls, and what an exciting event when that clay crumbles! With best wishes for good luck, Leah ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Jones" <riverrat111@earthlink.net> To: <GRIFFITH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 8:08 AM Subject: Re: [GRIFFITH] 1st Posting re: this family > You did fine.
