My ancestors came from Scotland and originated in Wales. There is a family tree of the Griffiths (original spelling of surname) for my ancestors but it was lost some 80/90 years ago. But family folk lore tells that our line descended from the Kings and Queens in the 1200's in Wales. There is supposed to be a crest and tartan, however I have been unable to verify this and have been unable to locate the family before 1799. My 2g grandparents came from Ayr, Scotland and immigrated to Pa. ca. 1840's. I have the names of all the siblings born in Scotland but have been unable to locate all of them. The men all were miners in Schuylkill Co., and Northumberland Co.,Pa. I am willing to share what ever info I have compiled with anyone connected with my line. The original spelling of Griffith is Gryffudd/Gryfudd. In the Welsh language the dd is pronounced th. Your information sounds fascinating, Norma. There is a line that settled in Pa in the 1600/1700 that does descend from the last Prince of Wales, possibly some of those are yours.
