Sent privately. Those on the list were also asked to try wives names, for with Griffith names like William, John, etc. there are lots and, also the page #s did not always match the names, which happens when something is added at the last minute, but generally they are accurate. ----- Original Message ----- From: Janet Flemming <jflemming@iprimus.com.au> To: <GRIFFITH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 2:37 PM Subject: Re: [GRIFFITH] RE: Griffiths of Wales by Anna Laura Griffith > are the lookups in the archives of this list or were they sent privately???? > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Happy Texan <ldavis@lcc.net> > To: <GRIFFITH-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 4:25 AM > Subject: Re: [GRIFFITH] RE: Griffiths of Wales by Anna Laura Griffith > > > > This book is a collection of things. I would like a lookup from this book. I have a note in my genealogy papers that the section written by Mrs. Robert M. Libke pertains to my line. I would like to have the information on Lewis Fredrick Griffith, born in 1790 in Bedford County, PA. His wife was Ruth Osborn, born in 1792 in Bedford County, PA. I have a fair amount of information on this line, but there may be more there than what I have. This family moved several times before settling in Lawrence County, Ohio. This family eventually had 12 children, including my GG Grandfather, John H.C. Stewart. Thanks for the offer of a lookup. - Jean Griesan -----Original Message----- From: GBuchanan737@aol.com [mailto:GBuchanan737@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 10:14 AM To: GRIFFITH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GRIFFITH] Re: GRIFFITH-D Digest V04 #25 THE GRIFFITH'S [sic] OF WALES AND AMERICA was published in 1979 (reprinted in 1982) by Anna Laura Griffith, Route 3, Box 2263, Mayfield, KY 42066. Hello Hi folks.... have been enjoying the posts on this list..... Is there any on this list with GRIFFITH/GRIFFIN & FLEMING connections in Ireland/Wales or England...??? My Griffin/Griffiths were in Cornamuck, Tyrone in the 1800s. Alexander Griffith was married to a Jane Sommerville/Somerville and they lived near Dromore in the Parish of Tyrone.... Cornamuck is the name of the townland and he is listed on the Griffiths Land Records.... apparently he lived over 100ys ? His sons came to Australia and some married into the FLEMING family here. Does anyone on the list have any information about Abijah Griffith residing in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland Co. Pennsylvania ca. 1810? I am looking for the parents of my John Griffith b. 1790 PA who I believe started his family in the Mt Pleasant area, eventually moving to the Wayne and Holmes Co areas of Ohio. Thank you Jennifer

The "Griffith" book (by Annia Laura Griffith) covers a wide variety of persons named Griffith: e. g., Griffith marriages, Griffith wills, Griffith genealogies submitted by various researchers, some D.A.R. Griffiths, and additional categories. Much of the material is in the form of lists and in most cases the source of the information is named.
This book is a collection of things. Mrs. Griffith shows lines (pedigrees) from the Welsh, has lines sent to her by various people, Griffith marriages in Kentucky, Griffiths in the Revoluction, the 1800 census, and other compilations. In the introduction Mrs. Griffith says : "For those interested (in the history of Wales) there are several "History of Wales" books, and they all give a wonderful history of this Welsh line, each tells it a little different so I chose the most reliable source and use these. I especially liked the one by Sir John Edward Lloyd." Contributions include those lines by: Mrs. Tracy Carpenter, Mr. Arthur Griffith Bruner, Mrs. Robert M. Libke, Laura Jean Ewing, Dan W. Griffith, Mr. Paul A. Smith, Pauline Lang to mention a few. A year or two ago I did look ups in this book. I found very little information for anyone, but conveyed what there was on two or three of the 70 or so look up requests. I am no longer doing look-ups. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom Griesan <griesantomjean@msn.com> To: <GRIFFITH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 11:35 AM Subject: [GRIFFITH] RE: Griffiths of Wales by Anna Laura Griffith > Just to clarify your response, does the book contain a multitude of > records dealing with a wide variety of records about anyone whose last > name is Griffith or does it deal with a specific line of Griffiths? > - Jean Griesan > > -----Original Message----- > From: GBuchanan737@aol.com [mailto:GBuchanan737@aol.com] > Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 10:14 AM > To: GRIFFITH-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [GRIFFITH] Re: GRIFFITH-D Digest V04 #25 > > > THE GRIFFITH'S [sic] OF WALES AND AMERICA was published in 1979 > (reprinted in > 1982) by Anna Laura Griffith, Route 3, Box 2263, Mayfield, KY 42066. I too would like to get access to the Griffith book. I called some families in Mayfield Kentucky this memorial day and left messages. When I hear from them I will inform you of the result. I assume the parties I called are somehow related to the writer of the book. We'll see. Meantime have a nice holiday. She runs this house. Taken in at 8 weeks of age, as a delightful but precocious puppy, she knows no other life. She takes the center of our kingsized bed, wants a bite whenever we eat, demands walks and water, and likes her daily trips to the Silverlake Dog Park. If you have a dog Miss Charlie would most certainly want to be your friend. If you have a cat , we'll see. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo!
