Hi, Ruby. Thanks for taking time to share your info. At this point, I'm desperate and just entering in GRIFFIN families known to be in the area so yes, yours helps. Can you tell me what other surnames might have mixed with your GRIFFINS? Have any of these names mixed with your line? Researching ALDRIDGE, BURLESON, CALHOUN, CALLOWAY, CASSETTE, CUTHBERTSON, DANIELS, GRIFFIN, HUGHES, JOHNSON, MARKES, MCKINNEY, VANCE Also, can you remind me where Jefferson Co. and Cocke Co, TN are? Are those around Elizabethton and Bristol? Tamara G. My Griffin's have the name Lee Griffin, and Leander Bethel. My line starts with George Griffin and Ollie Dunoway marriage in Dandridge, Jefferson Co., TN. There was also John Griffin b. ca 1800 who married in Jefferson Co., TN and later in 1850 moved to neighboring Cocke Co., TN. Some of this John Griffin's son's went to McKinney, Collin Co., TX along with some of the other Cocke Co., TN families before the Civil War. I don't have any clue as to what part of NC them came only the Census states they came from NC. Ruby in TN
Tamara, I am also researching the Calhoun's and the Griffin's. I have two different families of Griffin. On my daddy's side and also on my mother's side. No connection that I am aware of. Daddy's is from Kentucky and Tennessee area and mothers were from Alabama moved to Arkansas. My dad's sister married a McKinney and I have several McKinney cousins. I am wondering if there are any connections.
