Hi there, I might take a quick lookie loo and see if there is anything there. The Griffins did hail somewhat from Wales, but mostly all over the UK. In Devonshire where my Griffin family came from, there are tons of Griffins. The other day the Historical Society president of Devonshire sent me a painting copy of the house my family lived in before they emigrated. I'm gonna shoot it to Griffin-Bounces@rootsweb.com. I've read that the Griffin name is Welsh, but I haven't been able to go back any further than my great great great grandfather, William C. Griffin. He was born in North Carolina--I don't where in NC. My great great grandfather, Rufus Marion Griffin, was born in Cherokee Co., NC (this information came from my grandmother). That is so cool! I would love to be able to trace my family back to the "old country" and actually see a picture of their home. Better yet, I'd love to see it in person. Good luck in your search. As a result of your question about where my Griffins emigrated from, I did a bit more research and found some census information that I didn't have--so thanks!
