Charlene, I don't know how I missed your email. So sorry for the delay. I do know that MCKINNEYs and CALHOUNs were in the western NC area that my Lee GRIFFIN raised his family. Can you share names and locations of your GRIFFINS? Send a GEDCOM if it's easier. I suspect that the KY / TN GRIFFINS are more likely to be connected to mine than are your more southern branch. The only CALHOUNs I have lived in / around Avery and Watauga Co. in western NC and are these: Johnny (no additional info about him) m Jane ALDRIDGE b 1824 Foscoe, Watauga Co., NC d 04 Jul 1903 Unknown Male m Unknown JOHNSON (the JOHNSON side descends from Barnabas James Henderson JOHNSON and Caroline GRAYBEAL -- also in the mid to late 1800s) Penny Karen (no additional info available about her) m Charles Albert BRASWELL, Jr. (depends from Charles Albert BRASWELL, Sr. and Helen JOHNSON b 06 Aug 1939 -- I suspect Penny Karen may still be living -- probably in Avery Co., NC) Tony (No additional info) m Dianna DANIELS(who descends from Harold DANIELS and Pearl Estelle GRAGGb 1915-2004 -- there is a good chance Dianna DANIELS is still living) I have more MCKINNEY names: Babe b 1880 in NC (descends from Joseph S. MCKINNEY b Yancey Co., NC and Mary JAne BYRD b abt. 1851 also from Yancey Co., NC) Other siblings of Babe include Ida b 22 Dec 1877 d 14 Jun 1932 Avery Co., NC; Sylvester b NC, and Bub b NC Joseph S. MCKINNEY (referenced above)was one of 8 children born to Henry MCKINNEY and Sarah Unknown. Other children in that family included Loretta, Isaac, Melton, John, Mary J., Thomas, and Reubin. Carrie MCKINNEY (no additional info) married Bill PITTMAN (These two are our contemporaries -- probably still living). Elizabeth "Libby" MCKINNEY m Aaron BURLESON b 1768 Rutherford, NC d 1851. Jane MCKINNEY b 1794 NC d 10 Jul 1880 m Abraham JOHNSON b abt. 1787 Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC d 15 Oct 1881 Avery Co., NC. OK, Charlene! That's all I have. Still looking for Lee GRIFFIN and his brother Fate. I have two different families of Griffin. On my daddy's side and also on my mother's side. No connection that I am aware of. Daddy's is from Kentucky and Tennessee area and mothers were from Alabama moved to Arkansas. My dad's sister married a McKinney and I have several McKinney cousins. I am wondering if there are any connections.
