You are so right--the Griffins are an adventurous group! My great great grandfather, Rufus Marion Griffin, was born in Cherokee County, NC in 1844(his father was William C. Griffin). By 1860, the family was living in Randolph County, Alabama. I think Rufus and his wife, Maretta Jane Reeves Griffin, moved to Georgia for a short time, then to Arkansas, Texas, possibly Arizona, Beaumont, Riverside County, CA, and finally National City, San Diego Co., CA. Rufus fought in the Civil War for the Union side--that's a pretty brave thing to do when you lived in Alabama! Rufus and Maretta Jane's son, Archie, went to the Klondike Gold Rush. If anyone has any information about my Griffins, please share! --- On Mon, 9/8/08, Shervey, Steve <SteveShervey@allstate.com> wrote: > From: Shervey, Steve <SteveShervey@allstate.com> > Subject: Re: [GRIFFIN] California Griffins > To: griffin@rootsweb.com > Date: Monday, September 8, 2008, 11:32 AM > Hi there, don't think it's a fit for my Griffin > roots.
