Author: waynedeanemann Surnames: Griffin, Price, Mann Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.griffin/6681/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to locate any family on my mothers side. Her name was Alice Louise Griffin and I believe she went by the name Louise. She was born in Decator, Illinois in 1909. She had one full brother, named Walter "Bud" Griffin born 05/24/1916 and died in Inglewood California on 09/04/1980. I believe my mother _MAY_ have met my father, George Roy Mann in Alliance, Nebraska in the late 1920's to middle 1930's. My parents left Nebraska before 1936 and I was born on 01/05/1936 in Renton, Washington. My brother was born on 02/11/1938 in Wilbur Washington. We lived a short time in Wenatchee Washington after that and then in 1939 or 1940 we moved to Noxon, Montana. She died then in the summer of 1942 in Noxon. Because the ONLY information I have is from my father, and memories during WW-II. I believe my Uncles information is: GRIFFIN WALTER MICHAEL 05/24/1916 I am sure that my mother Alice Louise Griffin had several half brothers/sisters living in Albion, Nebraska during WW-II and also the half brothers/sisters had several half brothers/sisters at that time. As best I can remember, about 4 and 4. As best I can recall these eight ranged in age from 8 to 16 at that time. Some would have the Griffin last name, some a different last name. (I have been in contact with them, but they cannot help) The below is all I know, and I have been searching for over 10 years, and because of my age and health, if I am going to get this, I need to do it soon. Generation No. 1 1. ?1 SCRIBNER Children of ? SCRIBNER are: 2. i. ELIZABETH "BESSIE"2 SCRIBNER, d. Abt. 1885? M Michael Griffin Abt 1910 ii. ALICE SCRIBNER, m. FRANK PRICE. Generation No. 2 2. ELIZABETH "BESSIE"2 SCRIBNER (?1) died Abt. January 1923 in Albion, Nebraska. She married (1) MICHAEL GRIFFIN. He was born in Illinois. She married (2) JESSE CURREN, son of ? CURREN. He was born Abt. 1883, and died Abt. August 1951 in Albion, Nebraska. Children of ELIZABETH SCRIBNER and MICHAEL GRIFFIN are: 3. i. ALICE LOUISE3 GRIFFIN, b. March 05, 1909, Decatur, Illinois; d. June 30, 1942, Noxon, Montana. ii. WALTER MICHAEL GRIFFIN, b. May 24, 1916, Illinois; d. September 04, 1980, Los Angeles, California Generation No. 3 3. ALICE LOUISE3 GRIFFIN (ELIZABETH "BESSIE"2 SCRIBNER1) was born March 05, 1909 in Decatur, Illinois, and died June 30, 1942 in Noxon, Montana. She married GEORGE ROY MANN Unknown in _maybe_ Nebraska - _If_ Married?, son of PERRY MANN and MARY WOOD. He was born June 05, 1887 in Bedford, Taylor Co., IA, and died January 24, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Children of ALICE GRIFFIN and GEORGE MANN are: 6. i. WAYNE DEANE4 MANN, b. January 05, 1936, Renton, Washington. 7. ii. DALE BYRD MANN, b. February 11, 1938, Wilbur, Washington. 4. WALTER MICHAEL3 GRIFFIN (ELIZABETH "BESSIE"2 SCRIBNER,1) was born May 24, 1916 in Illinois, and died September 04, 1980 in Los Angeles, California. He married MARCINE ?. Children of WALTER GRIFFIN and MARCINE ? are: i. CATHERINE4 GRIFFIN. ii. VICTORIA GRIFFIN. (I have also lost contact with Catherine and Victoria. Any help for them also? Thanks) Before the Prices moved to Longbeach from the East or midwest, he had worked and retired from a Railroad. He then became involved in Real Estate in Longbeach, California during or after WW-II, I believe. She may have had relatives in Southern Illinois and in a North side suburb of Chicago. The one in the Suburbs was a man and his family of wife and two daughters. His name would be Frank Fieghter. (Or Feighter) Thank you. I appreciate any help anyone may have. Thanks again. \\/ayne //\ann 1079 Farroll Arroyo Grande, ca. tpd@charter.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
