He had four sons: John, William,Jr., Solomon, and Ezekiel. They lived in Dutchess, Delaware and Westchester counties. I haven't been able to find much about Solomon; the one I thought might get me the most information due to the uniqueness of the name. What caught my attention in this thread were the names Tabitha Ann and Clarissa. So, I'm going to post what I have and see if anyone can make a connection. 1. The only information we have on Solomon is his birth date was purportedly 1767 in Dutchess, New York. If this were him, he would have been 56 when he married Claryssa. The fact that he died by 1826, makes this possible. 2. Solomon's brother, Ezekiel, b. about 1750, married Charlotte White, in 1814. She was the daughter of Tabitha (Ellis) and John White. 3. We have DNA evidence that connects William and his family to the Edward Griffin, b. 1602 who died in Flushing, N.Y. after 1698. We have not established where that connection began. With that said, it's interesting that Edward's great grandson, John Griffin IV, had a son Solomon, who was born 27 Nov 1769; however, we know he died in 1860 in Yorktown, Westchester. Curiously, in 1811, he married Clarissa Webb and they had two children that we know of: William (1814) and Ann (1817.) 4. The Solomon who was William, Sr.'s son, could have moved to Missouri. Again, I can't stress this enough: this is just information, but I'm hoping that others will look into their family histories and perhaps if we air out some of this information, we'll fianlly make connections. Has anyone found the marriage certificate of Solomon and Clarysa Hays? Theresa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
