I purchased "A Supplement to The Early Settlers of Maryland" compiled and introduced by Carson Gibb, Ph.D, Maryland State Archives, Annapolis, MD, 1997 a few years back looking for a Edward/Edmond Griffin's name which was purported to have been in the book. Unfortunately, it was not. Today, as I was reading your inquiry, I checked the book and found these references: Griffin, Thomas Transported by 1665. Transcript 8:333 [SR 7350] Patent: Original - DD:374 Film - SR 8202 MSA SC 4341-4427/// Griffith, Thomas Of Virginia [immigrated] by 1664 with Luce Griffith, his wife, Edward Hall, Thomas Baker, Francis Hardick, Nicholas Wyatt, Henry _____ & Anthony Welde. Transcript 7:507 [SR 7349] Patent Original - CC:555 Film - SR 8201/// Giffen, Thomas Transcript 7:472 Film - SR 7353 Transported by 1664. Patent Original - CC:512 Film - SR 8201/// I also found this one on the Maryland Arhives Website which was from Gust Skordas' book "The Early Settlers of Maryland" Griffin, Thomas ABH:151 Film No:(None) Transported between 1649 & 1650 MSA SC 4341- (none)/// You can contact the State of Maryland via their website to obtain copies of the transcripts (which are easier to read than the originals, according to Gibbs. http://guide.mdsa.net/viewer.cfm?page=topviewed Gibbs states that the use of "immigrated" means he paid for his own transportation. Please know that Edward was called Griffith when he left England in 1635 and was called Griffin, Grifin, Giffin, Griffen,Griffing, etc. when he arrived, so as you probably know, the names were interchangeable at the time depending upon who was doing the writing. Let me know if this helps you in any way; at least someone would benefit from the money I spent on the book, LOL!
