(prob. Charles) GRIFFIN b. 1861 Fayetteville or Manlius, Onondaga, NY. He moved to Wisconsin with or without his father bef abt 1885. He had one known sister who married George FOX they are called "of Syracuse" in 1912. His father was Charles (poss. L.) Griffin b. abt 1837. Charles was married to Martha "Mattie" HALE, b. NY. Charles was prob. the son of Daniel A. (b. abt 1814 d. abt between 1853 and 1860, NY) and Sophia HAIGHT, b. NY. According to census info Daniel may have been born in CT or NY. Daniel's unknown father was poss b. CT or MA and lived in NY. Charles served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a musician: 16th Infantry Regiment Regular Army. His brother, Shipman, died during the war and another brother, Daniel W., also a musician, served and lived until 1921 in the Fayetteville, NY area with his wife Sarah KIMBALL. Fred Griffin had children: Donald Webster Griffin married Lulu Gailey; Frank L. Griffin married Grace Rigg: had children Willaim, Charles and Thomas; Harry Leland Griffin d. young; Lorna L. Griffin d. young; Irene Griffin married J. Frank Morton: had son Charles (Chuck); Charles Jewett Griffin married Evelyn D. Blumer; Alice Lucille Griffin married Phil Gutleben. Fred's family group in NY are not the same family as the Irish Catholic group of Griffins of the same area.
