    3. Cathy Abernathy, I don't know if my Griffins are any relation to yours, but your email perked my interest! My great great great grandfather was William Griffin, born ca 1813 in North Carolina. He married Telitha/Tabitha Wiggins. I know the birthdate of your William and my William is different and the last name of our Telitha's is different, the similarity was too much for me to dismiss. I've been told that my great great grandfather, Rufus Marion Griffin, was born in Cherokee County, NC. By at least 1860, the family had moved to Randolph Co., Alabama. What do you think? 3. List members: This situation has led to a very good conversation 'thread'. It has helped me to see posting in a bit different light. I have Griffin ancestors on both my of my father's PATERNAL and MATERNAL ancestral lines -- so, I watch each post to the list, I have yet to see any of 'my' Griffin kin posted. Most were folks who lived, married, died and are buried in North Carolina. Anyone out there have Griffins from North Carolina around 1700's-1860's? Any help is greatly appreciated. 3. in my view it is a matter of making a proper subject line. Everyone who uses a list like this, no matter the surname, should always put a location in the subject line if possible. When I contacted this person some weeks ago, I was just asking him to put TX or Texas in the subject line, since every single one of his posts was from a cemetery in Texas. Another member also asked him to distinguish his posts in some way. that's it. I'm hoping that people will learn from this and remember to be thoughtful when they create their subject line. 3. Amelia, I agree with you about including identification of location in the subject line (and not just for the person who sends the cemetery photos, but for all of who post) and it would also be nice if people would include dates and location in the body of the email, too. My point was that it is pretty obvious what the email is going to be about once you open it and it's very easy to delete right away. I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings with my previous posting--that wasn't my intent. I value this opportunity to search for my family's roots and I want everyone else to see this as a great way to learn more about their family in particular and genealogical research in general. I sincerely apologize if I've hurt anyone's feelings. (This is the area that became Washington County, AL). Samuel Griffin Sr is listed as 76 years of age and Mrs. Griffin is listed as 61. They have one child left at home. (This child should be William Griffin) Son James Griffin is listed as 29 and Mrs. Griffin as 24. They have 5 children left at home. This leads me to believe that Samuel Griffin was b. around 1720 and Elizabeth around 1735, which is a little different from what everyone keeps telling me. I have also heard Richard and Mary Green Griffin might be parents of Samuel, but I am very skeptical because of timeline of their Samuel.
