I probably have bits and pieces of info on George Griffin and family. I believe Christian and Francis are one and the same. I also believe I have a family record sheet that might give some info. I have been searching for a record of death date and place for George's wife Margaret (Vermillion) Griffin. But am just finding deadends. Seems she was born in NC and married George in TN (although marriage records there for that time were burned in the courthouse). George is buried in Independence, Co, AR in Campground Cemetery. But Margaret is not buried there. Do you know anything about this? Let me know specifically what you want for George? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. George and Margaret (Vermillion) Griffin are my great grandparents. I am trying to locate the date and place of death and burial for Margaret and keep finding "dead ends." If you have any hints or info on this I would appreciate knowing. I know George died in Independence Co, AR and is buried in the Campground Cemetery there. Someone suggested Margaret may have moved to Texas with daughter Alice Amanda but have been unable to come with any info in the areas of TX that I have leads they lived in. Thank you Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

I'm searching for THOMAS GRIFFIN who was in Oklahoma "I believe" from before 1894 to 1909 when he died. THOMAS GRIFFIN was my Grandfather. I have Posted this inquiry many times and will continue in hope of someday finding some of the family of THOMAS GRIFFIN. I have documentation from 18 Apr 1894 when he married OLIVIA SUMPTER MORRISON (when they lived in McMullin I.T.) until he died 26 Feb 1909 in Ardmore, Carter Co. OK (when my mother was age 10). I also have copies of all the Probate Papers of Thomas . . . apparently he had no middle name or initial . . just THOMAS GRIFFIN. THOMAS GRIFFIN was 39 when he married OLIVIA MORRISON . . because of his age of 39 I believe it's possible this could have been the 2nd marriage for Thomas. The family lived in McMillan I.T. from 1894 until January 1900 when they moved to nearby Ardmore I.T. where they first rented land and Thomas Farmed. A few years later they bought land (which is now the site of Ardmore Mall) and built a family grocery store that Olivia and the children operated. The only information I have to go on appeared in the 1900 Federal Census: 1900 United States Federal Census Name: Thomas Griffin Home in 1900: Township 5, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory Age: 45 Birthplace: Alabama Race: White Gender: Male Born March 1855 Father born SC Mother born SC Spouse's name: Olivia S (Sumpter) Married 6 years Occupation: Farmer Renting Home and Farm Can Read and Write Not Employed 3 months Household Members: Name Age Thomas Griffin 45 Olivia S Griffin 39 (b. Apr. 1861) Zackey Griffin 4 Roxie Griffin 1 Seldan Morrison 33 - brother-in-law Painter My Mother Roxie Griffin lived to be 96 but was only age 10 when her Father died. She always said the only member of her Dad's family she ever knew were Jefferson Griffin and his sister Alice who married Benjamin Coe who lived in Ringling OK at the time and said her Father was from Jefferson County. I always 'assumed' this to be in Oklahoma but now am not sure which state since I've never found any GRIFFIN's who lived in Jefferson Co. I.T. (later OK). >From Census Records: Alice GRIFFIN COE born Dec 1873 in Missouri J. Jefferson GRIFFIN born in Nov 1870 in Mississippi In 1910 - 1920 census J. Jefferson GRIFFIN was living with family of Benjamin Coe in Wilson Co OK . . . apparently Jefferson GRIFFIN died Bet. 1920 - 1930. 1930 census Benjamin Coe and Alice GRIFFIN Coe living in Chickashea, Grady Co. OK. (No Jefferson GRIFFIN and a Coe family researcher told me that Benjamin & Alice Coe never had any children.)
