    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Kent_McMahan Surnames: Griffin, Fallis, Martin, Scot, Everhart Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.griffin/3230.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: As far as I know, I'm not related to this Griffin line, but the middle name of Dr. Josephus Fielding Griffin caught my eye. My correspondent, Nick Griffin, has a brick-wall ancestor John Fielding Griffin b. 3 Jul 1838 Conway Co., AR who's discussed at following Web page: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/g/r/i/Nick-L-Griffin/index.html Regarding the subject James Griffin and wife Elizabeth Fallis, Clarence & Bobbie Rachels have an LDS Pedigree Resource File (PRF) with this couple. The husband is given as James Joseph Griffin b. ABT 1780 (of KY) and d. BEF 1827 in KY. James is said the be the son of William Griffin & Barbara Scot, both b. ABT 1757 in VA. Elizabeth Fallis, b. ABT 1786 KY is given as the daughter of Isaac Fallis & Susannah Martin. The PRF has the marriage of Elizabeth to James on 14 Apr 1800 at St. Charles, St. Charles Co., MO (territory, not yet a state). It also has her married 2nd BEF 1827 in KY to George Everhart who d. 30 Jul 1881. The referenced biography of Josephus F. Griffin (son of the subject couple), in PDF format, can be found at the following linked page: http://www.hellolouisville.com/BookFiles/Pg_117-163.pdf The biography has that Miss "Nancy" Fallis "was descended on the mother's side from the Scotts of Buccleugh" (?the estate in Scotland?) I'm wondering if this may instead refer to the mother of James Joseph Griffin discussed in the PRF above. I hope someone can add more to the ancestry of the subject James Griffin. I also hope someone may find a connection between the above Dr. Josephus Fielding Griffin, proposed as a grandson of James Griffin, and the above John Fielding Griffin. Thank you so much for sharing that info with me. I had posted the query when I was living in North Carolina and had actually forgotten until my sister Gwendolyn was doing some research and came across your answer to my query in 2005. Wow,I have to thank you. My Nanas maiden name was Jiggets. I am curious to know more. My Nana was very dark skinned but all my aunts and uncles on my fathers side of the family were and are very light skinned. Do you know if William Curl Griffin was a light skinned negro? Thanks, I look foward to hearing from you. This time it wont take me 8 years to answer. (smile) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: TheresaGriffin55 Surnames: Griffin, Griffen, Pengruffwnd, Pengriffin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.griffin/6462.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Judy, Thanks so much for your kind offer! How early are the earliest Wilshire records? We're still trying to find a homeland and parents for Edward Griffin of Flushing, now that we know he was definitely not related to the Pengruffwnd/Pengriffin family. This Edward is an extremely close DNA match to William Griffin, of Westchester and Delaware County, NY who was born in England about 1720. If we can find William's homeland and parents, we may be able to give the 6000 descendants of Edward some information on their heritage across the Atlantic and give William's descendants a clue as to how they fit in with Edward's family. Our Edward was born in 1602 and left London on 24 Oct 1635. This is a proven fact, I've seen the original manuscript written on parchment with lamb's blood at The National Archives in Kew, outside of London; it was an amazing thing and made possible because of Brian Swann of Camberley, Surrey. Thanks for any help you can offer. Theresa Griffin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [GRIFFIN] Lafayett GRIFFIN b abt. 1858 and wife, Eliza NC
    2. Tamara Suttle
    3. Lafayett GRIFFIN and his wife Eliza were listed in the 1920 US Federal Census for District 36, Thomasville, Davidson Co., NC. Lafayett was age 62 which would make him born around 1858 in NC. He lists both his parents as being born in NC as well. Eliza's age is more difficult to read . . . probably 60 but could be 20 making her born around 1860 or as late as 1900. Her parents were also born in NC according to this record. Lafayett and Eliza were listed as white and had no children living with them. Do you have any information about this couple? I am hoping that this might turn out to be my great uncle, "Fate" GRIFFIN. Tamara G. SUTTLE Castle Rock, CO Tgsuttle@msn.com<mailto:Tgsuttle@msn.com>
