Robert born in 1695 in County Antrim, Northern Ireland; At age 15, Robert came to America with his Quaker Uncle, William DUFF (probably the brother to Robert’s mother) and married in the Colony of Virginia to his cousin, Eleanor DUFF. Robert and Eleanor DUFF GREEN settled in Culpepper County, VA and raised a large family including eight sons. Their sixth son was James GREEN. A biographical sketch of the Green Family by John B. Morgan’s Regiment of the Virginia State Line and fought in the battles of Bunker Hill, Germantown, and Monmouth under the command of General George Washington. (John’s brother Thomas was killed in action during the Battle of Brandywine). In addition, he supervised slave gangs in building the famous “slave walls” that dominate the Clark Co., landscape. Although he owned very little land, he was a respected member of the community and served as Major of the local militia.
